Platform Community Program

Oregon Contemporary offers the opportunity for organizations to present programming by providing affordable space in the form of low-cost space rentals and more. We provide a platform for arts and culture events, Kenton neighborhood events, with a particular focus on supporting the communities of BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and people with disabilities.

Platform events:
Consist of contemporary visual art or performing arts and culture content.
Present innovative programming to the public.
Provide a safe space for ideas and culture.
May also include educational or community events intended for arts and culture communities or for the Kenton neighborhood.

Supporting the communities of BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and people with disabilities

Since 2019, we have worked to provide low-cost opportunities for first time events that are primarily supporting community attendees of BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and people with disabilities. Examples of previous event partners include Claima Stories presented by Feast, Friends of Noise, Melanated Market, and Ori Gallery. A sliding scale discount of 25% - 50% will be offered for repeat partners with events that serve the communities listed above. *All first time events require payment for both event coordination and site managing workers as well as others as needed (set up requirements, bartenders, etc.).

Interested in creating a Platform event?

Submit an application. Additional funding beyond a discounted rate may be available for your event if it is primarily led by, or primarily supporting, communities of BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and people with disabilities. We will ask about how you are supporting, marketing to, and centering these communities when considering granted funding. We do not accept rentals for individual’s art exhibitions or performances as we program that work as an organization directly, but we may present exhibitions or performances by organizations or established community groups.
